How I Use Frase’s AI Writer To (Almost) Fully Automate My Writing

I’m going to let you in on a little secret… This article was written almost entirely with the process I’m about to show you, and I’ll even show you the step-by-step screenshots of what I did to get the output (below this intro).

All AI writers are not created equal. That’s the truth. If automatic content generation is all you’re after, then any AI writer will do.  However, to get your content to rank or even seen, you’ll have to impress the powers that be.

The problem with AI writers (not all of them, mind you) is that they can spit out random content that has nothing to do with your subject matter. They can also become repetitive when you try to write long form articles.

1. Create a New Document

From the Frase Dashboard, you’re going to want to click on the “New Document” buton, top right.

Don’t worry about all the mess you see in my screen. I’ve just been using for a while and have a lot of content created.

2. Customize Your Document

A pop-up will appear where you can enter the search term you’re writing about (long-tail keywords are recommended), your target country, and language.

You can even specify what folder you want to save it in.  Folders are great, because they help you organize once you’ve created a few dozen articles.

3. Enter Keyword/Search Phrase

This is where you would place your search terms. If you’ve done your keyword research, then you would have had selected a keyword to go after.

Enter it here and click on “Create Document”.

4. The Frase Editor

Now you’re in the editor with standard editor features, but hover over some elements and get familiar with the interface.

5. Let's Go

If you’re lazy like me and want to make AI do all the work, just click on the “Let’s Go” button.

Again, all I’ve done up to this point is typed out my chosen keyword for Frase to write about.

6. Frase is "Thinking"

Frase is going to cycle through some top 10 or 20 website that rank for the given keywords.  It basically is analyzing the competition for that keyword to give you a higher chance of out-doing your competitor.

7. Start The Outline

Once it’s taken a look at the top competitors for that keyword, it will be ready to start your outline. Just click on the “Start your outine” button and let Frase do what it does best.

8. Let AI Generate Your Outline

Click on the “Generate Heading Ideas with AI” if you want the AI to do all the work.  Of course, yes, please, and thank you.

9. Edit the Outline

Yes, you’ll have to do some work here if you want your article to look good.

Remember that AI can be repetitive or sometimes non-sensical.  There may be some things you don’t want in your article, so please do go through the outline and make sure it’s what you want.

Even so, the only thing we’ve done up to this point is chosen a keyword to write about and then edit the outline.

Now that you’ve got the outline created, you’re going to need to write some instructions on how to create content for each of the headings.

Don’t worry, there’s a way to automate that as well…read on.

13. Ask AI to write out its own instructions

This is a beautiful feature of Frase AI Writer. You don’t have to learn prompt engineering and all that fiddle faddle.  Just have the Frase AI write out its own instructions.

If you let the AI write out its own instructions, you can just sit back and watch the process, which is pretty neat.

Once the AI writes out  its own instructions, its time for it to follow those writing instructions to get you the first draft.

As you sit back, Frase AI Writer will start go write the content for you following its own instructions for the outline it wrote for itself.

In essence, so far, all the work you’ve done is to choose a keyword and fix the outline to your content.

17. The Draft

Once the draft has been generated, you’ll notice some important elements on the page.

Frase will let you know whether it finds content on your page that is the same or very similar to the top competitor pages. See the red circle with the number 1 in it?

Then it tells you the word count, bottom left.

The next step is to check the SEO optimization.

18. SEO Stats

In the SEO optimization screen, you’ll see the keywords that the top competitors have on their page as well as how many times it’s used.

Do with that information as you will.

This particular output looks pretty good to me, so we’ll move on.

19. Un-Original content

You can check out the un-original content by clicking on the number in the red circle. Frase will give you a list of the incidences found, and you can click through those for specific locations in the article.

20. Editing your content (yourself)

Alas, all work can’t be avoided. You’ll probably want to go through the draft and take out or add in stuff you need to.

Taking out stuff is easy, and adding stuff is less easy but still can be automated.

21. Save your work!

Always save your work. You never know when the next power outtage will be.


At this point, you’re pretty much done.  If you’re happy with the output, publish it. If not, go back and have AI fix or rewrite some parts.
